SA Para Surf Champs Fundraiser

Fund a Seat. Change a Story. Our goal is to take 10 athletes and their 6 coaches & chaperones to Durban on the 18th April 2026 for the South African national para surfing competition. Flights cost R4,500 per person. Fund part of one seat or a full seat and be the reason they board that plane. These athletes train year-round. They show up. They commit. They push beyond physical, cognitive and social barriers. The only thing standing between them and the start line is airfare.

At R4,500 per person, we need to raise R72,000 to get our full team there safely.

The South African Para Surfing Nationals is the official selection event for the 2026 World Para Surfing Championships in November. Participation in this event offers these young athletes a life-changing opportunity to qualify for the global stage, empowering them through sport and inclusion.

Meet Our Athletes

Meet Raemondo: The reason why I want to attend this upcoming championships is because I want another successful title defence and become the 4x South African national champion.

Meet Noluthando: Noluthando is a single mother and the defending Para Surfing Champion. She triumphed in the 2024 championships in Cape Town after overcoming many challenges. Nolu has cerebal palsy and currently lives Khayelitsha. Nolu’s unwavering determination and courage in balancing motherhood, training, and competition make her a true inspiration. Proving that no obstacle is too great when passion and perseverance drive the way forward.

 

Meet Emihle: Emihle competes in the Stand 2 division and was a finalist in the 2024 South African Para Surfing Championships. In 2023, he was the first reserve for the national team, narrowly missing selection. This year, Emihle is determined to secure his place on the 2026 national team, training harder than ever to achieve his dream. His journey is a testament to perseverance, and with your support, he can compete in this years national event.

Meet Thando: My motivation for wanting to attend the 2026 Surf Champs is being able to showcase my growth and skills that I’ve learned throughout my training. To have the opportunity of meeting athletes that share the love I have for the ocean and learn from them. For me to see how much I’ve progressed and what can I do better as a surfer and a mentee. THANDO

Meet Nasr: The 3 reasons that it is meaningful to me is as follows… ⁠I enjoy meeting new people and becoming part of a bigger family. ⁠I love the new innovative ideas that are thought of while on the tour to make things easier for everybody. I need to step up my game and do better this year than what I did last year.

 

 

Meet Diego: Diego is an athlete with a spinal cord injury who competes in the Prone Unassist Division. He is a fierce competitor and has a found a deep love for the ocean. He is currently still in school completing Grade 12. Diego lives in Belhare with his mom and siblings.

 

 

Meet Nonny: My name is Nokuthula Yonke better known as(Nonny) I am the 1st Princess Of Miss Wheelchair South Africa 2021, Sports woman of the year with a disability 2022 in 2 sporting codes wheelchair basketball and Para-athletics I currently reside in Leiden, Delft I am graduating this year for my N6 in Management Assistant (Diploma) Surfing has always been my dream since a little girl watching Barbie and the movie with the girl with one arm.

 

Meet Keisha: I love the ocean, and it’s been a dream of mine to surf, and travel ever since I was a little girl. Growing up, watching surf movies, it’s always been my goal to compete in a surf comp and win. So to be able to attend Surf Champs is a dream come true.

 

 

Meet Michael: I am always motivated by my family and and we are a very active and sport orientated family. It would mean alot to even just compete in the champs Surf Comp, as then i can show not just myself but other people that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.

 

 

Meet Sisande: It was always my dream to attend the Surf Champs in another province beside Cape Town, also I’d like to see myself attending the world games (SA Team). What motivates me is not to give up on this journey, even though it’s not easy. Because i love the ocean, I feel safe and express my feelings. I’m well prepared and ready for the SA Para Champs next month, and excited for this great even.
