9 August 2026: Girls & Women of the Waves

Celebrating Women’s Day – LaMuse Classic – Surf Emporium – Cape Town Surf Riders – Roxy Davis Foundation AND YOU
National Women’s Day is a celebration of strength, resilience and belonging for women and girls in our community. The event creates a safe, inclusive space for participation, connection and joy, with a deliberate focus on women/girls living with disabilities, youth at risk and those who face barriers to access. Under the theme “Celebrating Women of the Ocean,” the day brings together ocean-based experiences, personal development and community connection.
Delivered in partnership with Cape Town Surf Riders and Surf Emporium in Muizenberg, the programme combines learn-to-surf sessions, surf therapy, and preparation for participation in the LaMuse Classic all-women’s competition. This creates a meaningful pathway for female para surfers and novice girls to step onto a recognised competitive platform, building confidence, visibility and progression in the sport.
Who can join?
We invite all girls and women to participate with a particular emphasis on those who are often excluded from opportunity including girls living with disabilities and girls and women from under-resourced or previously disadvantaged communities.
Males living with any disability are welcome to participate in the Surf Therapy sessions.
