3 October- Mental Health and Movement Surf Therapy and Beach Day

Join us for a morning filled with surfing, connection, and celebration as we recognise the spirit of community, resilience, and shared purpose that drives the Roxy Davis Foundation.
Date: Saturday, 3 October 2026
Location: Muizenberg Beach
Theme: Mental wellbeing, blue mind and the therapeutic power of the ocean
October hosts World Mental Health Day and Mental Health Awareness Month. The surf therapy session will be framed around the documented mental health benefits of ocean immersion and physical activity, drawing on the blue mind body of evidence and our own research. Participants will be supported to explore how movement, breath, water and community contribute to mental wellbeing, with particular relevance for those navigating disability, chronic illness and the daily realities that affect mental health.
Programme highlights:
The Surf Therapy clinics are designed for:
- Anyone who has a permanent or temporary disability
- Community members who’d like to volunteer their time and support in changing lives
