DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning filled with body surfing\, connection\, and celebration as we recognise the spirit of community\, resilience\, and shared purpose that drives the Roxy Davis Foundation. \nDate: Saturday\, 3 October 2026\nTime: 08h00- 14h00\nLocation: Muizenberg Beach \nTheme: Mental wellbeing\, blue mind and the therapeutic power of the ocean \nOctober is Mental Health Awareness Month and includes World Mental Health Day. This special RDF ocean day will create space for connection\, movement\, breath\, reflection and time in and\naround the ocean. The morning will bring participants and volunteers together through accessible ocean based activities and meaningful one to one connection. Participants will be supported to explore how movement\, breath\, water and community contribute to mental wellbeing\, with particular relevance for those navigating disability\, chronic illness and the daily realities that affect mental health. \nProgramme highlights:\n● Grounding\, breathwork and connection on land\n● Ocean therapy session with mental wellbeing reflection points\n● Post-session debrief and resource sharing on mental health support pathways \nThe Ocean Therapy Day is designed for:\n1. Anyone with a permanent or temporary disability\, chronic illness or other life circumstances that may impact their wellbeing\n2. The session will spotlight adaptive surfing skill progression and the equipment that makes ocean access possible across all 50 disability categories we work with. The beach day will recognise the volunteers whose ongoing contribution makes our work possible and celebrate the participants\, athletes and families at the heart of the Roxy Davis Foundation community. \nWorld record attempt: \nAnchoring the day is our world record attempt for the most number of para surfers riding the same wave. This attempt is a statement of what adaptive surfing can be when given visibility\, infrastructure and community support.
