We invite you to take the next step in the Volunteer Skills Development Program and attend Volunteer Training Part 1 and Part 2
Who is this for:
- For members of the community 16 years and older who are eager to support an inclusive community
- Land Volunteers – volunteers who help with event logistics
- Water Volunteers – volunteers who support the surfers while in the water
Where will it be:
- Part 1 – Venue TBC
- Part 2 – Roxy Davis Foundation Trailer, Surfers Corner, Muizenberg Beach
When it will be:
- Part 1 – 3 February 2024 07h45-12h00
- Limited space available, book before the 31st January 2024
- Part 2 – 17 February 2024 07h30-14h30
What does it entail:
An entry level presentation on the theoretical and practical elements volunteers need to support the community they are working with:
- What is Surf Therapy?
- Volunteer roles
- Safety in and out of the water for volunteers and surfers
- Understanding Disability – how to help, communicate and have fun at the same time
- Communication
- Team support, mentorship
- Transfers, Surf Like me
- Meet your surfers
What to bring:
- Notepad and a pen
- We will be providing a light snack and beverages
